Where did spring go?

Brr!  I wish this cold weather would go away.  Hopefully April snow will bring May flowers :)

The weekly MFT Wednesday sketch challenge is keeping my butt in gear to keep creating, and I couldn't miss my first week of the year!  I just love MFT's 'Crazy for Daisies' and I thought she'd be perfect with this beautiful new Echo Park paper.

The sentiment is from MFT's More Essential Sentiments.

challenges:
Craft Your Passion - Punches or Die Cuts (Martha Stewart border punch)
Stamptacular Sunday - Freebie Week
Oozak challenge - Anything Goes

You Make Me Jump For Joy

Happy Easter, everyone!  This is my card for this week's MFTWSC66 sketch.  The stamp is Jump For Joy, and the dies are MFT Die-namics Jumbo Scallop and Butterflies.

And a close-up:

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Use Your Favourite Tool (Big Shot)
Oozak - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes with opt. Monochromatic
Penny Black & More - Oh So Cute

While our kids are having a five day weekend, thanks to the busses being cancelled for our snow day on Thursday, we're still keeping busy, since their training continues as usual.  I'm looking forward to their day off on Sunday!

If you stopped by and saw our snow day photos from yesterday, here are the results from their efforts:

They raided all of the veggies in my bin, so there's a variety of red and orange peppers, celery, potatoes, broccolini, etc... those should be pleasant when the snow's gone!  :p

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs,

Snow Day!

My poor kids got up at 5 this morning and headed off to the pool through our snow storm only to find out that the power was out, so home they came again.  School busses were cancelled, so they've gotten a rare day off!

I was lucky they were home, since they got to push me when I got stuck in the driveway, and then they helped me shovel the driveway clear when I got restuck a foot later, and then pushed me again until I made it into the garage :)

To everyone driving in this, stay safe!

Sasy Pants

I was so happy when the mailman brought my MFT order yesterday, it's so hard to wait for shipping to Canada!  Of course, I immediately inked up all of my stamps!  They are all so cute, who could resist?  :)  This one is called Cute-a-tude, which suits her so perfectly!

Thank heavens for my bow-easy, because I am the worst bow tier, ever!  I think I have all thumbs when it comes to that :)

This layout is from the MFT Wednesday Sketch Club this week.  It was looking a bit busy with patterned paper behind, so I switched it up for the white cardstock and it seems better to me.

Copic colours:  E000, 00, 21, 11, BV000 / E31, 34, 35, 37 / V05, 06, RV66 / R81, 83, CB, V05, CB/ T5

Happy Birthday, Cupcake

Sorry for my absence from blogland the past week or so.  I seem to be suffering from a loss of mojo, combined with a few back to back illnesses.  All I know is that I am ready for summer!  Right now we are enjoying spring break.  Tomorrow I'm taking the kids to Marble Slab, so they will be happy :)  I'd love to hear what you all do when your mojo goes missing!

Since I haven't missed a single weekly sketch from MFT yet this year, I couldn't let the lack of motivation and mojo break my streak.  I did find the sketch hard though... my brain doesn't do 'crooked', lol...

As soon as I saw this '3 Bugs' paper, I knew I had to have it, just so that I could use her with this adorable 'Hello, Cupcake' MFT stamp.  And this ribbon, doesn't it match the ribbing on the cupcake wrapper perfectly?  A match made in heaven :)

Today I got to sleep in, what a nice treat!  The kids are running to our local rec centre for a work out this morning and then running home.  Literally running, not a figure of speech.  I love not having to chauffeur for once!  Maybe while they are out, I can get in some crafty time.

On a side note, there is a DT call running at Paper Sundaes right now, so if you are interested in joining us, please check out the post here and drop us an email!

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Color Me Creative - Anything Goes
Divas By Design - Stamp Something

Just For You

As soon as I saw this week's MFT sketch, I knew I had to play along; it is just my style!  Lots of layers, straight panels (unlike my crooked sewing lol...).  I hadn't used this 'Because You're Special' MFT Pure Innocence in forever, and she was bringing me happy thoughts of spring, so I just had to ink her up!

I've mixed and matched a bit, using the sentiment from MFT's 'Fresh From the Oven', and a rolled rose from their mid sized rolled rose Die-namics, finished off with a brad in the middle.  The papers are My Mind's Eye 'Miss Caroline'.

Copic Colours:
Skin - E000, 00, 21, 11, BV000
Hair - E30, 31, 34, 35
Dress, shoes - BG53, 45, 49
Jacket - BG45, 07, B34 over top for toner
Grass - YG91, 93
misc. - E81, YG95, R32, YG2, YG23, BG000, 0000

I've used my colourless blender to add a bit of texture to the grassy ground.  I thought it turned out okay in the end.  I'm just glad that the food poisoning seems to be just about over, so that I felt good enough to play today!

Challenges:
Die-ing for a Challenge - Anything Goes (C3)
Totally Papercrafts - favorite things (Pure Innocence stamps, die cuts, layers)

Thanks so much for stopping by, your visits and comments are truly appreciated!

Whee!

Sorry for the quiet blog!  We just got back the night before last from a 4 day trip to Calgary for my daughter's provincials!  It went really well, with 3 new A times, and several more personal bests.  Unfortunately I must have caught a touch of food poisoning on the trip home, so it hasn't been a fun 24 hours!

My card today is for the current MFT sketch challenge.  Luckily I coloured the panels on Wednesday before we left town, because otherwise I think it wouldn't have gotten finished!  As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use this MFT 'Start the Day With Whee' stamp.  I ended up having to cut the panels a bit tighter than I'd like just so I could keep this card at a reasonable size though... as it is, it's 7.25 x 5, not exactly small!  :)

Challenges:
Stamp and Create - Paper Piecing

Now I am off to get this scheduled and then get to bed... after no sleep last night, it's going to be hard to get up in the morning, and the kids tend not to like it when mom forgets to pick them up from morning practice :p

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas in the Air

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is your choice of either the colour green, or the theme of Good Luck.  I don't often make Good Luck cards, so I decided to go with just the green, and get back on track with my resolution.

Well, I definitely haven't been keeping up with my pledge to get ahead on my Christmas cards this year... I believe this is only number three so far.  It's hard to get in the mood for Christmas in March!  I absolutely love this MFT Pure Innocence Christmas Caroler though, and decided to cross one more card off my list :) See Santa, I really am good, once in a while :)

The layout is from this week's MFT sketch, I have managed to play along with every sketch so far this year!  Yay, me :)

Challenges:
Dies To Die For - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

Now I am off to take some advil, since I seem to be developing another migraine and can hardly see the monitor to type this, no joke.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you can come join us at Paper Sundaes this week!

Hugs,

Happy Leap Day!

If everything goes as scheduled, this will post while I am off for the day with my Auntie!  Hopefully rush hour traffic will be kind :)

I was running a bit late for this week's MFT sketch challenge and had to sneak it in on the last day.  This sweet stamp is 'Being Cute Is What I Do' by MFT stamps.  This paper is from a My Mid's Eye paper pad called 'A Happy Heart', that I snagged on sale at a local store last week.  I love the rich tones!

I've used two MFT die-namics as well, their Wonky Scallop, and Ticket Tab.  The sentiment is from a different MFT stamp set, their Lily of The Valley Pure Innocence.  I always seem to be switching them up.

Challenges:
2 Sisters Challenge - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Paper and Such - Paper Piecing
Craft Your Passion - Paper Piecing
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
The Perfect Sentiment - die cut + sentiment

You're So Sweet

Wow, how did it become Thursday already?  My hubby is off work this week and we have been busy running around.  Yesterday we were back to the doctor.  My kids are getting a bit of a tour of the medical field; maybe one of these will be something they pick to do someday!  This time it was the pulmonologist again.  My daughter thinks this would be interesting, but I'm not sure she's suited for medical school, with all the needles and blood :p

For my card today, I've inked up one of the beautiful Belles 'n Whistles stamps that I won from Elisabeth Bell just before Christmas.  All of her stamps are just so gorgeous!  This sweet girl is called Pretty in Patches.

It's not very often I use my BV's, but it was a nice change from all of the red I've been using lately. I just love this 'Spring Border' Memory Box die, expect to see a lot of it.  I definitely need to get more of these!  The flowers are an MFT Die-namics called Flower Trio.

Bring on spring, I'm ready for warm weather, green grass and flowers!

Challenges:
Sweet Stampin' - Lace, Brads, Flowers
Cutie Pie - Flower Power
Papertake Weekly - Get Krafty
Corrosive Challenge - Another Dimension (popped out top layer of flowers)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Playing along with CPS's 5th Anniversary

Happy 5th Anniversary, CPS!

I just had to play along with CPS's 5th Anniversary sketch challenge, and of course, I had to choose one of the MFT weeks!

This cute MFT Pure Innocence 'Popping By' had been sitting neglected and impatiently waiting her turn, so I just couldn't resist her any longer :)  I've paired her up with some new 'Miss Caroline papers from My Mind's Eye.

Now I am off to play some more with Shana, who is over for a card date :)  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Color Outside The Lines

Thank you to everyone that emailed me to check in on me!  Luckily my fever broke Monday night and now it's just a matter of kicking this nasty cold.  Even our dog is now sick.  I've discovered though that she will drink water if I put a bit of low sodium chicken broth in it... the downside is that she likes it a *little* bit too much!  :)

I haven't managed to find the energy to colour this week, but luckily I had coloured this adorable MFT Pure Innocence, You Color My World a few weeks back and she had been sitting with her co-ordinating patterned paper just waiting for the perfect MFT sketch!  When I saw this week's sketch, I thought it would work perfectly for her!

The papers are from my favorite 6x6 paper pack, My Mind's Eye 'Lime Twist' - Go Fly A Kite.  The buttons were cut with my MFT Button Quartet Die-namics.

Copic colours:
Skin - E000, 00, 21, 11
Hair - E31, 34, 37
shirt - YR04, 07, 18

Where's Christine, and google friends update too

Sorry for not being around much the last few weeks.  Late last week, my week long migraine morphed into a nasty cold, and a lovely fever to go with it.  Not much is being accomplished here right now!

I did drug myself up with cold meds and snuck off for a few hours to watch my kids race today, and it's a good thing I did!  My son got his first 'national' time, although since he 'ages up' in a month, it doesn't count for much beyond the satisfaction of achieving it :)

Also, I've seen a lot of chatter on blogs in the last week about Google closing it's Google Friends Connect. As long as you use blogger as your platform, no need to panic!  Here is a quote from the Official Google Blog:

Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We're retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.
(red text courtesy of me :)

Now I am off to bed to hack, cough and generally probably not get much rest :p

Hope you're all having a better week than me!

Hugs,

You're How Old?

I'm on a roll, this is number 6 of the 6 MFT sketches this year!  I just love this sketch, it came together so easily.  This cutie is an A La Modes called 'Birthday Girl' by MFT.

I've paired her up with a sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments, and a felt flower cut with an MFT die-namic, Prima Donna Petals.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye 'Hip Hooray'.

challenges:
Papertake Weekly - Anything goes

Almost the weekend, woohoo!  I wish we had this weekend off, but both of our kids are competing.  At least this one is a short meet!  I hope you're having a great week!

The battle goes on...

With my migraine, that is!  It certainly isn't helping me get any crafting done, or housework.  Like I need another excuse not to do housework!

I am still trying to play along with the weekly MFT sketches, this is number 5 of 5 so far this year, all on time, too!  I bet that won't last the whole year lol...

This week's sketch threw me off kilter a bit, with those angle cut pieces!  I just couldn't find paper that seemed to work with it.  Finally I cut into my precious, untouched stash of October Afternoon's 'Ducks in a Row' paper that I have squirrelled away for the miraculous day that I get around to scrapping the rest of my kids baby photos :)  Oh it was hard to cut it, but it was only one sheet, after all :)

The aqua blue tones just seemed perfect for this 'Make A Splash' Pure Innocence from MFT.  It was my first chance to play with her!  I did the sand and sky with my airbrush.  I simply cut a scrap of paper in a bit of a curve for the edge of the sand, and kept both halves of the scrap.  The first I used to get a cleanish edge on the sand, and then the other (negative half), I used to mask the finished sand.

Challenges:
Inky Impressions - use pearls or bling
Crafting For All Seasons - Blue & White
Do You Stack Up? - Anything Goes

Now I am off to take some more Advil and get to bed!  I am hoping to get around to everyone's blogs tomorrow!  Thanks so much for stopping in for a visit!

Hugs,
     Christine

CAS with Paper Sundaes this week

I really didn't think I would be playing along with my teamies at Paper Sundaes this week, but with the help of a handful of Advil, I managed to struggle though this week's theme of Clean and Simple!  This card is definitely clean and simple lol :)  I meant to put on some red gems in the top right corner, I think I will still go ahead and add them.

Now I'm not really a fussy and fancy kind of gal either, but I always use lots of layers of paper!  So this challenge took a lot of thought.  I'm still not 100% sure, I mean, no patterned paper? Isn't that violating some kind of law?

This cute gal is called Flower, from CC Designs 'Laugh Lines'.  The sentiment is also from CC Designs, from their All About Love sentiment set.

challenges:
Sweet Stampin' - The one I love
By the Cute & Girly - Love is in the Air
iCopic - Red Love

Now I am off to bed, before my migraine returns!  Thanks so much for coming to visit!  :)

Birthday Balloon

Just a quick post today, life has been a bit stressful lately and lots of stuff on the go!  I did force myself to take some time to relax and craft yesterday, and just had to play along with this week's MFT sketch.  I'm no a roll, 4 for 4!

I've used my very first MFT stamp from long, long ago :)  This Pure Innocence girl is called 'My Balloon'.  I've paired her up with a sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments.  The photos are a bit dark, sorry!  Bad lighting at this time of year here.  One of these days I'll get a light box :)

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Remember to make someone smile today :)

Paper Piecing with Paper Sundaes

This week at Paper Sundaes, Shana and I have set the challenge as Paper Piecing, since our sponsor is MFT, and their stamps work so perfectly for this technique.  I sure wish I could play along for a chance to win, since this week's winner will recieve a $25 gift certificate to MFT!  We also have a special guest designer this week, so you really need to stop by Paper Sundaes and take a look!

This cutie is a Pure Innocence from MFT called 'Love You With All My Heart'.  The sentiment is from MFT's 'More Essential Sentiments', I just inked up the first word from their 'Love you, love me' sentiment.  The tag is also from MFT, their Die-namics Dog Tag.  I just love this paper from last year's Valentine's line from We R Memory Keepers.  I'm so sad that it's almost gone now!

The layout is from the current MFT sketch challenge.  I'm doing well so far this year, 3 for 3!  Only 49 more to go :)  I've kept it quite clean and simple, and just rotated it 180°.

Copic colours:
skin- E000, 00, 21, 11, 31, BV000
hair - Y32, 23, 26
Shoes and dress shading - G40, 21

Challenges -
Creatalicious Challenge - Love
Let's Ink It Up - Anything Goes
Corrosive Challenge - I heart You
Sentimental Sundays - Die Cuts

I hope you can come and join us in our challenge this week at Paper Sundaes!

A winter birthday

If you are looking for my Paper Sundaes Blog Hop post, click HERE
It couldn't be simpler to enter the challenge this week too, since it is 'Your Favorite Past Challenge', and I'll give you a hint... one week was 'Anything Goes' ;)

Brr, winter is definitely here!  I guess it couldn't last forever, but I sure am hoping for an early spring!  Hopefully the cold will mean a lot of time at home this weekend to craft!  I always get the urge to move to Australia at this time of year.  It is especially challenging when it comes to photographing stuff, there's just so little sunlight!  So my apologies for the dark photos, I took at least 30 shots with different lighting trying to get closer to real life colours.

I am still trying to use my new stamps from the latest Magnolia collection.  This cutie is Tilda with Hellebores.  The sentiment is from an MFT set called 'More Essential Sentiments'.  The flower die cut is Magnolia's Doily Flower Doohickey, and the leaf is a die cut from the MFT Prima Donna Petals set.  The small white rose is from Wild Orchid.  I've also used my stickles to add a touch of glitter to her dress and flowers, as you can see in the close-up.

I found this fabric in the discount bin at our local fabric store last summer but had yet to cut it up, so the TOMIC challenge provided the perfect excuse to dig it out and use it.

challenges:
ABC Challenge - H is for Happy Birthday
Stampin' For the Weekend - Out with the old (old lace that's been in my stash for years!)

Now I am off to the pool to watch my kids at practice and pretend that I am on a tropical beach somewhere!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hugs,
     Christine
