Simply Fun

I see that blogger is having more fun today!  My followers list has disappeared, and I've read that I'm not alone with this issue, either.  Hopefully they can fix it without any more major glitches.  I've never seen so many blogger problems in such a short time!

I had so much fun creating this card!  This beautiful Simply Sassy Butterflies & Pigtails was part of a gorgeous gift from my dear friend Shana.  She also gave me this incredible decorated box filled with 40 ribbons, yum yum!

I also used some new to me papers from Kaisercraft and my birthday present that I bought with some birthday money from my in-laws, this beautiful MFT die-namics!  I've paired it up with some lace, brads and pearls from my stash.

I added some dazzling diamonds on the glass jar of butterflies to give it a wonderful shine.

Unfortunately I have misplaced my list of colours, but I will keep an eye out for it and add it if I find it!

Challenges:
Sugar Bowl:  sketch
Bunny Zoe's Challenge: lace
The Crop Stop:  Complimentary Colours
Paper Play Challenges:  Blossoms & Blooms
Penny's Challenges:  Here Comes Summer
Crafts & Me:  Gems and pearls

I don't expect that I will be posting this weekend, as I am away for a sports meet, but I am hoping to do some blog surfing via wifi!  And just in case my hubby reads my blog, (a slightly early) Happy 18th Anniversary!!  :) :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Tilda with Balloon gift card purse

After a dreary day of rain, it was wonderful to pull out my bright Echo Park Summer Days papers and bring some fun into my day today!  I've been looking at various gift card purses, wanting to make one.  In the end though, I opted for simplicity, and instead of using a template or tutorial, I just winged it!  Typical Christine!  lol

I took a sheet of 8.5 by 11 inch cardstock, scored it in the middle at 5.25 inches, and along each of the long sides at .5, 1 and 1.5 inches.  I then folded these in like pleats, cut a notch in the bottom to reduce the bulk in the fold, and then glued the two inside pleats with Terrifically Tacky tape.  I attached the ribbons with brads simply out of necessity... for the life of me, I couldn't find my eyelet setter!  LOL

I've used a Magnolia Doohickey flower and a Lily of the Valley Dreamy Days sentiment.  The balloon got a generous dose of Diamond Glaze, too.

Copic colours:
skin - E000, 00, 93, chalk for blush
hair, shoes - E30, 31, 33, 35, 37
Dress, bow, socks - V0000, 000, 01, 12, 15, 17
Balloon - RV21, 23, 25, 29
Shadow - W00, T0, V000

Challenges:
Card Positioning Systems - sketch
Simply Magnolia - Gift Card Purse
Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - Gift Bag
Mad For Markers - Colouring embellishments - I've colored my twine in my button to match the balloon and cardstock
Karen's Doodles Netherlands challenge - Birthday but not a card
iCopic - advanced shadowing

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Just think, it's almost the weekend, yay!

Mmm, I love the smell of new paper...

and the feel, and the look... lol... I should not ever step foot into a scrapbook store, the last thing I need is more paper!  However, my good friend Shana hauled me off to a crop on Friday night at a local store, and she had two sheets of the new My Mind's Eye 'Lime Twist' papers, and I was hooked!  Today I had to go to another LSS to grab some other sheets from the collection, it's so cute!

I decided to play along with this week's My Favorite Things sketch, and dug out one of my older Pure Innocence stamps called You're so Tweet to go with my new Lime Twist papers.

That cardstock seems more purple than burgundy in real life, honest!  LOL

Copic colours:
Skin - E000, 00, 93, chalk for blush
hair - E21, 23, 25, 27
dress, shoes, shirt - RV000, 00, 63, 66
bird - BG53, YR31

Challenges -
The Ribbon Girl - colour inspiration
Crafting For All Seasons - Anything Goes
Cupcake Inspirations - photo inspiration (purples and blues)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Secret Slider Tilda

This week at Paper Sundaes we are challenging you to "Pop It Up"!  Our sponsor this week is Michelle's Scrapbooking.

I thought I would be creative this week, and made a 'Surprise Pop-up' card!  I've used this adorable Tilda With Flower Pot, paired with some Girl's Paperie papers.

A 'secret slider' card has a tag that is attached to the middle panel under your image, and when you pull the tag, your image stands up!  Here's a side view so that you can see the mechanism:

And a shot with it flat:

The sentiment (by Paper Makeup) is hidden behind the paper flap that pulls back to stand Tilda up.

Challenges:
ABC Challenge - Unusual Fold
Lothian Crafts - Easel
Pixie Cottage - Pink & Girlie
Fairy Fun Fridays - More than 1 fold (this has 3)
Claudia & Co - birthday card for a girl
Flourishes Timeless Tuesday - flowers
The Ribbon Reel - photo inspiration + flowers + ribbon

As I write this, it's the wee hours of the morning here, so now I am going to skadaddle off to bed!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tilda in Yellow

It has been so long since I've had a chance to play with my Magnolia's, so I dug out one of my favorites, Tilda With Small Gift, and got to 'work'.  If only all work was this much fun!

I've paired her up with a sentiment from Lili of the Valley's Dreamy Days Sentiments set, and some Magnolia Doohickey flowers topped with Wild Orchid flowers.

Hair, shoes, tag - N1, 3, 5, 7
Dress, socks, gift - Y32, 35, 38
Shadow - N0, 1, 3, Y32, 35

Birthday Special

This week at Paper Sundaes, we have challenged our DT to make a special birthday creation!  While this may include cards etc, I would love to see your 'special' creations - invitations, decorations, gift bags, etc!  Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp, so you should definitely come play along!

This week marks my 40th birthday, and my daughter's 13th birthday, yikes!  I fell in love with this Mo's digi and decided I needed to make her a movie gift basket, like a popcorn tub!

I've used these adorable Imaginisce papers around the tub.  Inside, I've added a tube of caramel popcorn, peanut M&M's, a Reeses cups, and a movie :)  My kids rarely get junk food, so this will be a real treat for her!

I wrapped her dvd in some Bazzill cardstock, and used a strip of the Imaginisce paper around it as a sleeve.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

and:
Copic colours:
E000, 000, 00, 95, 30, 31, 33, 35, 37, 40, 41
R35, 37, 39...  BG11, 13, 15, 18... B91, 93, 95, 97
Y15, 17, 23... YG17... W0, 1, 3, 5
Memento Ink

I apologize for the not-so-great photography, we are heading out of town in the morning, and it's almost 2 AM and I'm still trying to get my post written and scheduled!

I've used the current sketch at Hanna and Friends. I'm also entering this into the Anything Goes challenge at Stamp Something, and the Movie Theme at The Paper Variety.

Now I am off to bed, thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out my blog candy here!

                Hugs,
                         Christine

Christine's birthday blog candy

In honour of my 40th and my daughter's 13th birthdays this week, I have put together a birthday candy to share with all of you.  I'm not sure how that number got so high for either of us; I'm sure I don't look a day over 25!  LOL

6 6x6 pieces of co-ordinating paper
1 Spesch stamp
2 pieces of seam binding

Rules:
1. Be a follower (required, but please don't follow if you don't like my work!)
2. Post my candy on your blog and link it back to me.
3. Add your name to inlinkz below.

I'll draw a winner on June 15th!  (Surely by then, life will have calmed down?!)

Good luck in the draw, and thanks for entering!

Tiddly Inks Blog Hop

Tiddly Inks is having a fun customer blog hop and puzzle adventure today!  Since I love Christy's images, I just had to join in on the fun this time :)  My daughter's 13th birthday is next week, and since she has long flowing hair, I thought that this stamp called 'You Are on My Mind' was perfect for her birthday card!

It's so hard to see, but the stripe on her skirt is green to match her shirt and shoes.  The colour of the close-up photo is much more accurate!

Copic Colours:
Skin: E000, 00, 93, chalk for blush
Hair:  E50, Y21, YR21, YR23
Pinks: R81, 83, 85, RV00, 10
Greens: YG01, 23
Shadow: C00, C0, BV0000, BV000

Between the long blond pigtails, and the cute little skirt, this girl just reminds me so much of my Jumpin' Jenny Bean :)  Hopefully she doesn't look on my blog and see her card!  Now I am off to get a few things done, before the actual hop starts tonight!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'll be posting some birthday candy later today, so be sure to stop back :)

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all of you mothers out there are having a wonderful Mother's Day!  I am spending mine as per usual... sitting and watching one of my kids compete all day!  I wasn't sure I would be able to get something done for this week, since it's a four day event, and one of 3 weekends in a row spent this exact same way.  We'll actually have events on 6 out of 8 weekends between the beginning of May and the end of June, so I may be a bit slower getting things posted!

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge theme is Magical and Mythical creatures.  For my card, I've chosen to use Fairy Lily on Swing by our sponsor this week, Pink Cat Studio.  Unfortunately, I didn't take any shots of the inside due to being in a rush, but I have added the sentiment 'Wishing you a magical day' and used this for my mother's Mother's Day card.

I've paired her up with some Making Memories papers, Wild Orchid Flowers, pearls, and a button from my stash.  I've also used Dazzling Diamonds on her wings.
Copic Colours:
Skin: E000, 00, 93
Hair: E50, Y21, 26, 28
Dress, wings: R81, 83, 85
Greenery: YG03, 25
Wood: E40, 21, 23, 25

Challenges:
Magical Monday - sketch
Southern Girls Challenge - For the Girls
The Paper Shelter - Bling it up
Paper Play Challenges - Show us Your Style (cute & girly)
Flutter By Wednesdays - Open

Into Every Life A Little Rain Must Fall

Otherwise we'd never have flowers, right?

I will be away for the next few days and so I buckled down and finished up this card I started a couple of days ago.  I just love the Pure Innocence stamps, and don't dig them out often enough, so I decided to have some fun with My Umbrella.

I paired her up with some new Echo Park papers, and paper pieced her umbrella, coat and boots.  I've used my copics on the paper piecing to give it a bit of depth.
Copic Colours:
skin - E000, 00, 93 (chalks for blush)
hair - E50, 53, 55, 57
misc. - Y11, T0, W0, W1, W3

Challenges:
Mojo Monday - sketch

Mwaaaah!

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is for you to share your favorite hair colour combos with us!  Our sponsor this week is Karen's Doodles, and they have been kind enough to supply some of our DT with their cute digi stamps.  I chose to use 'First Kiss', and it's perfect for this challenge, since I get to share two of my favourite hair colour combos!  My favourite blonde hair colour combo for copics is E50, Y21, 26, 28 and my favorite brown combo is E30, 31, 34, 35.

I've paired this sweet pair up with Echo Park's new 'Summer Days' line, Wild Orchid Roses, pearls from my stash coloured to match, and a ribbon from my bin :)  I've blinged up her shoes and dress with Dazzling Diamonds.

Copic list:
Skin: E000, 00, 93
