Merry Christmas to All!

And to all a good night!  :)

I can't believe that tonight is Christmas Eve, since to me it only feels like November!  I just wanted to wish all of my blogging friends and visitors a very Merry Christmas!

Since I am so far behind, I snuck in one last card last night, which my sweet cousin was hand-delivering tonight on the other side of the city, thanks Heather!

I've again used this adorable MFT Christmas Caroler in red.  I love colouring in reds, and what better time of year for them?

I've used the current sketch from MFT and kept it very CAS.  The tab is MFT's File Tab die-namic.

And now I am off to relax with my family and enjoy our Christmas Eve together!  Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

Challenges:
Stampin' For the Weekend - Anything Goes
Inky Impressions - Christmas Cheer
Papertake Weekly - Last Christmas Card of the Year
Party Time Tuesday - Use Ribbon
iCopic - Last Minute Holiday
The Squirrel & The Fox - Christmas

Hugs,

Tilda Sends Her Love

I absolutely love the new Magnolia Christmas stamps this year, but there just hasn't been enough time to play lately!  This Tilda with Snow Heart is one of my favourites of the collection, and these Authentique papers are my favourite Christmas papers this year too, so I just had to pair them together!

I absolutely love the May Arts silk ribbon, and have been hoarding this red ribbon for months now, saving it for Christmas!  As much as it killed me to cut into it, I guess I couldn't save it forever!  :)  I've also used some Dazzling Diamonds and Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter to add some sparkle and shine.

Copic colours:  skin- E000, 00, 21, 11 hair- E41, 31, 34, 35 dress etc- R37, 37, 39

Peace, love, joy

I am still plodding away at my Christmas cards!  Eventually they might even make their way into the mail! :O

For my card today, I thought I'd go a non-traditional route and picked purple for Candle Emma by C.C. Designs.  It's not a colour I use very often, and sometimes it's fun to break away from the norm and play!

The sentiment is from Amy R's Merry & Bright sentiment set, also from C.C. Designs, which is probably my most used Christmas sentiment set of all.  The papers are Bo Bunny Christmas papers from last year's collection.

What ever you do though, don't look too closely at my stitching... my sewing machine and I have a love hate relationship... I love stitching, but my sewing machine hates me :)  Maybe next year I'll have to ask Santa for a new sewing machine.  Since our tv died suddenly, I knew what I was asking for this year!

Challenges:
The Sketchy Challenges - sketch
Let's Ink It Up - Christmas projects
Hanna & Friends - Wintercard
All That Scraps - Anything Goes

I hope you are finding some time to enjoy the season in all the rush!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

Twas 2 weeks before Christmas...

Is anyone else shuddering in terror at the realization that there are only 2 weeks until Christmas day? Eeek! Our tree is up, but we've barely started our shopping, I don't have my cards in the mail, and the house looks like a bomb went off!  Double eeek!  And rather than tackle those things, instead I went on a cooking binge.  So far I made 36 cups of spaghetti sauce Friday, and about 45 cups of chili on Saturday.  I think today Sloppy Joe filling is in the works.  My freezer is going to be stuffed with easy meals :)

This week at Paper Sundaes our challenge is Anything Christmas, and since I am so far behind, I knew I'd better play along!  :)  If you're behind too, I hope you'll come and join us!

I did finally steal some time to ink up a few of my new Magnolias from this year's Christmas Collection. This cutie is Winter Tilda.  I've paired her up with some new to me Bo Bunny papers.

I've used some Vintage Photo distress ink on the edges of the papers.  The sentiment is from CC Designs.  I've purposely kept this card clean and simple, with just a bit of ribbon and a few pearls.  Nice and flat for mailing!  :)

Copic Colours:
skin- E000, 00, 21, 11 hair- Y32, YR21, 23, E31 clothes - B32, 34, 37, 39, 42 shoes - E34, 35, 37, 39, misc - T0, 1, W00, 0, 1, 3

I've used a bit of Dazzling Diamonds on her trim too, I always like to add a bit of sparkle to Christmas cards :)

challenges:
Mojo Monday - sketch
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes
Bunny Zoe's Challenge - Anything Christmas with Pearls
Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes
Hanna & Friends - Wintercard
Simply Magnolia - Christmas Challenge

Wishing You a Little Christmas

While I am away this weekend, I still had to join in my fellow DT members to showcase our new Paper Sundaes challenge that starts today.  After all, I love MFT, and I love our Sundae Bars!  This week at Paper Sundaes, we've chosen your topping options as red, stripes, die cuts and stitching.  I have gone with the stripes and die cuts :)

I've used MFT's Sending You A Little Christmas as well as their Icicle Border as my die cut topping.  The sentiment is from MFT's Triple Scoop promo from November, which ends any moment, but will be released with the December stamps.

I've used tons of glitter too... Dazzling diamonds on her fur trim, and Martha Stewart Tinsel Glitter for the snow.

Challenges:
Dutch Dare - sketch
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Delightful Challenges - Let It Snow
Bunny Zoe's Challenge - Christmas with pearls
Dream Valley Challenges - Sparkle
Let's Ink It Up - Christmas Projects

Now I am off to bed, since I have to get up in 5 hours for another long, long day!  Hopefully by Tuesday I am in full on Christmas mode... cleaning, shopping, and making the rest of my Christmas cards!  My blog should be picking up by mid week :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hugs,

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry for the lack of posts.  A stomach virus has invaded my house, no fun!  So I am very late with my DT card for Paper Sundaes this week, where our challenge is to show us your Beautiful Bows.

As soon as my latest MFT order arrived, I just had to ink up this adorable Pure Innocence Christmas Caroler.  The tab die is also MFT.

Christmas just calls for glitter and bling, so I've used Dazzling Diamonds glitter on her boot tops and candle, and gems in the corners.

My first instinct was to paper piece her dress, but it just didn't look right with everything else, so at the last minute I whipped out my copics, and I think it looks better this way :)  The lighting here is just so bad at this time of year, so my photos really don't do justice to the shading.

Card and Scrap - Traditional Christmas Colours
Bearly Mine - All My Favorite Things (two of my fav things - Pure Innocence, traditional Christmas colours)

Candy Cane Kisses

Well, after our lovely little snow storm the other day and another one today, I am definitely in the mood for Christmas!  I loved the MFT sketch last week, and managed to find a bit of time to play along. It took me forever to get half decent photos though... at this time of year in our house, we get no direct sunlight inside!

This was the best I could do, after trying at various times of day and different lighting combos.  That little sliver of light in the background is about as much direct light as we get, seriously!

By carefully cutting, I managed to use just one sheet of 6x6 paper from my 'My Mind's Eye' 12 Days of Christmas paper pack. The card base is 6.25 x 4.75, so that I could cut my double sided paper into one 6 x 4.5 panel, and then cut the scrap into 2 .75 x 4.5 panels for the cross pieces. I had one tiny scrap left, about an inch square! :)

I've paired up MFT's A La Mode Candy Cane Kisses with two of their die-namics, Prima Donna Petals, and their new Wonky Scallop border.

Challenges:
Southern Girls Challenge - die cuts, gems & ribbon
Totally Gorjuss - Christmas Traditions (every year Santa brings our kids a Candy Cane :)
Card and Scrap - Traditional Christmas Colours
By The Cute & Girly - Christmas Girls

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Oh the weather outside is frightful...

But it's all sunshine and flowers in here!  It really is amazing though, what a beautiful fall we've had this year, so I can't complain.  Any fall that the kids can trick or treat without a snowsuit is a good fall :)

Maybe that is why my thoughts turned today to sunshine, flowers and spring? :)  And what better image to turn to, than this adorable Itty Bitty Betty Holding Flowers, from our sponsor this week at Paper Sundaes, Pink Cat Studio.

I've kept the design very clean and simple.  This paper is from Echo Park's Dots and Stripes line.  The sentiment is from MFT's Framed Greetings Stamp and Die set.

Challenges:
Card Positioning Systems - sketch
Card Makin' Mamas - Be Thankful
iCopic - Thankful
Charisma Cardz - Cutesy
Beary Sweet Challenge - Your Beary Best
Creative Card Crew - Thankful

I hope you can come and join us this week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is easy peasy, just use a digi stamp!

Back from our trip, where did Monday go?

Somehow I ended up a day behind!  When I was creating this card last night, I thought that today was Monday, so I had lots of time to get this card uploaded.  It only occurred to me this morning that today was Tuesday; I want my missing day back!  lol

I just loved the sketch this week at MFT, with it being square, and straight panels, it was just my style.  I've used this MFT Pure Innocence, Being Cute Is What I Do.  In my mind, she can have either short or long sleeves.  Since it's pretty cool here now, I thought long sleeves was more appropriate.  :)  The sentiment is from MFT's More Essential Sentiments.

I've also used two MFT die-namics... the large scallop, and the Ticket Tab, which I won in a wonderful blog candy from Michele!  It was waiting here for me on Monday when we got home.

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Buttons
All That Scraps' Wednesday's challenge - anything goes
Paper Play - Button Up
Beary Sweet Challenge - Your Beary Best
Touch Twin Challenge - colour inspiration

Now I am off to unpack!  Hopefully I can find more time to create this week.  The kids are off school for fall break, but they still have practice to keep us busy.  My new designation should be official_chauffeur, instead of blankiefinder!

Hugs,
     Christine

Love at first sight?

As soon as I saw this Copica digi stamp from Saturated Canary, I just had to have her.  After all, she is a girl after my own heart :)  My apologies for the dark photos, the nights are definitely getting longer here, and the lighting on this card gave me fits!  The butterfly and matting is a medium-dark blue.

I wanted to keep this non-specific to any particular occasion.  This sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments seemed to fit perfectly.  The butterfly die and tab die are both MFT Die-namics.

As soon as my daughter saw this, she was a bit horrified by the pink hair lol... I just thought that someone so creative should have a creative hair colour!  :)

Now I am going to take a hint from this cutie, and go spend some time with my markers.  I'm having a crafty day!

Challenges:
Saturated Canary - 1 image, 2 patterned papers, 3 embellishments (ribbon, gems, button)
Cute Card Thursday - sketch
Dream Valley Challenges - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Charisma Cardz - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Card Makin' Mamas - Cut it Out

Hugs,

Christmas with Ribbon Hair Tilda

Well, it's now officially less than two months until Christmas, so I'm in trouble!  We always get extremely busy in November and December, even without Christmas, so it makes it a bit challenging.  Therefore, the push continues to get my Christmas cards done!  :)

The stamped sentiment is from C.c. Design's Merry & Bright Sentiments set.

It's always good to use up scraps, so I dug through my bin and found this old Imaginisce paper from 2009.  The lace is also from my stash.  It almost killed me to use it, I only have a bit left!  A bit of seam binding, some pearls, a Wild Orchid cherry blossom, and away I went.

I've also used some Dazzling Diamonds to add some glitter to the trim on her dress and stripes on her stockings.

Hopefully it's not too plain :)

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Charisma Cardz - Anything Goes
ABC Christmas Challenge - V is for Vintage Christmas
Just Magnolia - Merry Christmas
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Comment spamming

(Anti Spam photo © David Hegarty)

Is anyone else having an issue with pseudo comments being left in spam?  The type that say 'Beautiful card' and then has a few links to sites that are guaranteed scams?  Like today's Plastic Cards Plastic cards (both linked to sites I won't link to here).  Or 'Free shirts', yeah right.

I just thought I'd mention it, since it has been occuring more and more both here and on the challenge blog I help run.  I'd highly advise that you either have your comments emailed to you and read them as they come in, or keep an eye out.  I'm finding that some are being left on new stuff, and some are being put on old stuff that they may hope isn't being monitored.

The funniest part?  Today's actually included not only a compliment but also an insult, back to back, with links to crap (pardon my language!)...

Nice!

Rant over, back to original programming :)

Hope You Perk Up Soon!

I just had to play along with MFT's sketch challenge this week, and decided to use this adorable A La Mode girl called Miss You a Latte.

The paper is from My Mind's Eye.  I love these colours, I think I should pick up some more of it!  I've kept it clean, and finished it off with some black pearls and yellow gems.

I've paper pieced on her coffee cup sleeve, as well as the center piece in the middle of the sleeve.  The center piece was centered over the top of the blooms from the middle layer of patterned paper.

Now I am off to get my kids from their schools to practice, see you soon!

Challenges:
Lawnscaping Challenge - paper piecing

The Catered Crop - (using patterned papers, polka dots, copic markers, pearls, & paper piecing from the recipe, plus my own ingredients - lots of layers, black, teal, yellow and gems)

Hugs,

Sundaes on a Sunday

This week at Paper Sundaes, we are featuring our Sundae Bar, which is one of my favorite challenges!  This time, our toppings are black, distressing, flowers and sparkle.  You don't need to use them all, just any two!  Pick your favorite toppings :)  Our sponsor this week is Stamp and Create, so be sure to play along!

Since I am still trying to get ahead on my Christmas cards, I decided to just keep it simple and pick my favorite two toppings, flowers and sparkle, and use this adorable Tilda from the fall Magnolia kit called Tilda with Cross-stitch Heart.  She is sitting on the Sugarplums Bench by CC Designs.

I've paired her up with some Echo Park papers from last year (their Merry Christmas line), some Wild Orchid flowers, and some ribbons from my stash (aka 'the hoard'!)

Challenges:
Crafting Life's Pieces - sketch
Top Tip Tuesday - Layer It Up
Crafting When We Can - Christmas Come Early
By The Cute & Girly - Anything Goes

Wow,  Magnolia posts three days in a row!  I do have a few other projects with other stamp lines in the works, I promise :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, I love reading all of your comments and appreciate your time!

Halloween

As promised yesterday, I'm back today with another card!  Over the last week, I spent way too much time on this halloween card, because I just couldn't find the 'right' embellishment.  After a trip to Michael's and our local Scrapbook store, I still couldn't find whatever 'it' was, and I wasn't willing to make a trip into the city.  Finally, inspiration struck and I dug through an old pile of Inkadinkado stamps, and voila, a bat stamp!  I stamped it out a bunch of times, cut them out, glazed them with Diamond Glaze, and then shaped their wings gently while they were still wet.  Once dried, they really maintained their shape, too! The wings set hard, lifting off my card.

I created the background scene with a pumpkin carving pattern... it was just the scene I wanted for Mummy Edwin!  I then masked on the moon and the sky around it.  The ribbons were distressed with my airbrush but it doesn't show up in the photos.

The paper is from American Crafts and the pearls and gems are Kaisercraft.  The sentiment was computer generated using MS Word.

Challenges:
Simply Magnolia - Halloween
The Kraft Journal - Spooky Stuff
Color Me Copic - Halloween with orange (My moon and bits of his shirt)
Top Tip Tuesday - Layer It Up
Inky Impressions - Halloween Spooky
Magnolia Mania - small scene

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Back To Christmas!

After a two week break where I couldn't seem to get any crafting done, I really need to get a move on my Christmas cards!  I love to send everyone a unique one, but it's so time consuming.  Life has been very busy here, adjusting to back to school, and back to sports... chauffeuring 2 kids to a combined 15 practices a week is time consuming!  Luckily a few of them match up.  Plus the food... before practice breakfast, after practice breakfast (sometimes delivered by me in the car on the way from the pool to school), lunches, snacks for in class, a small meal for in the car on the way from school back to the pool, then a big meal at 7 before homework and off to bed to start it all again the next morning.  Can't imagine how tired my kids are, considering they're the ones working out that much.

While I haven't gotten any cards made, I have spent a bit of time colouring in the nights, when I really should be sleeping.  Last weekend my good friend Shana came over to colour for a few hours, and brought her new Magnolia kit for me to stamp.  She knows how much I love Christmas stamps!

As soon as I saw this adorable Halo Tilda, I wanted to pair her up with this Little Yellow Bicycle paper from last year's Christmas Collection.  I've distressed the edges of the papers with paint and Snow-tex for texture.  The flowers are Wild Orchid, and my typed sentiment was cut out with the MFT File Tab Die-namic.  My apologies, the colour in the main photo is not very true to life.  The colour of the close-up is much more accurate:

Tilda has a generous dose of both Dazzling Diamonds (on her dress trim) and Stickles (on her wings and wand) to give her lots of sparkle.

My thanks to Claudia for picking my name in her Ribbon Candy draw yesterday, what a wonderful surprise that was!  Her kind words were so sweet, and just the poke I needed to get me back into my craft room :)

Challenges:
Fab & Funky - Distressed
Top Tip Tuesday - Layer It Up
Crafting When We Can - Christmas Come Early

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I have another project in the works that should be finished tomorrow!

Hugs,
     Christine

Don't run away!

Yes, I am torturing you all with another Christmas card!  11 weeks until the big day, you know. :)  My goal is 1 to 2 Christmas cards each week for the next 10 weeks.

I couldn't resist this gorgeous new 'Season's Greetings' paper from Echo Park, it has such beautiful shades of green and red.  I'm definitely going to hit the store and grab some more before it sells out!  The stamp is called Christmas Party Tilda, but she seems to be out of stock almost everywhere.

The flowers are Wild Orchid, and the sentiment on the tag is from PTI's Holiday Button Bits.

Challenges:
Just Magnolia - sketch
Penny's Challenge - anything goes
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Papertake Weekly - Anything Goes + something punched (my leaves)
Bearly Mine - 3 Design Papers
Sweet Stamps - Anything Goes

Hugs,
     Christine
