Happy Halloween??

Hmm, I guess it's a sign that I made a Christmas card today instead of a Halloween card!  My family has been anxiously awaiting Halloween so we can start decorating for Christmas!  LOL... let the festivities begin!  We already have our eggnog in the fridge, and all we need is a clean house. {Snort!  Like that's going to happen!}

Today at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is 'For a boy or man'.  I decided to make a man's Christmas card.  Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp, and they are providing our winner this week with a $15 gift certificate!  Yum!

I've used Edwin with Package and Merry Christmas text, both from the Magnolia's Merry Little Christmas 2010, on pre-order right now at Simon Says Stamp!

I think you'll be seeing a lot of these Christmas papers from me this year... the second I saw them, I fell in love!  They are Echo Park's Merry Christmas line.

Copics: Hair- E30, 33, 35, 37; skin- E000, 00, 02, chalk (blush); pants- E34, 35, 37; top- E40, 41, present & socks- YG03, 17, 67

Last Minute Treat Holder

This afternoon I whipped together a quick treat holder!   I'm hoping I don't get a last minute request from my daughter to whip up 30 of these for tomorrow!  LOL

I've used the Goth Girl digi by CC Designs, with some new to me Harmonie papers.  They are a Quebec based company that I first saw a few years back at a local scrapbook show, but none of their papers were available at my local stores until recently.

Inside I've tucked a bag of Rockets candy... a family favorite!  :)

Now we're off to try to pick up some odds and ends for our kids Halloween costumes for school tomorrow, then I need to finish sewing them!  Yikes, busy night!

Too much to do, too little time!

Anyone have any great costume ideas for teenagers?  lol

Today I have a very clean and simple card for the new Paper Sundaes challenge, sponsored by Wags 'n Whiskers.  You should never set a challenge after listening to old music, right?  That might explain this week's challenge, set by yours truly!  LOL... our theme this week is 'A Natural Woman' :D  And no, this does not mean that you can skip shaving this week and blame me!!  LOL...  I do not want any hate mail from your hubbies!

For my card today, I used Rosalie, from the recent Wags 'n Whiskers release.  I used some papers out of my stash, and I couldn't resist adding a few Wild Orchid cherry blossoms, of course!

I hope you will come play along with us this week at Paper Sundaes!  There is still 2 days left to enter our DT call by either linking through inlinkz, or sending me an email!  Hope you're having a great weekend!

Baby Girl in Blue??

Last night I needed to make a baby card for a family member who is expecting a little girl.  I didn't really want to use typical girl colours, so I decided to use blue!  Yes, blue!  Am I crazy?  What do you think?  Hopefully they will like it!

I decided to use the super cute Spesch stamp called Bonnie.  Right now at Paper Jewels, Jenny has all of her Spesch stamps on clearance, so if you want them, this is the time to get them!  She also has free world wide shipping on orders over $50!!  I can't think of any other online stamp store that offers that!  Jenny also carries CC Designs, Bildmalarna and Sweet Pea Stamps, so it shouldn't be a problem hitting $50!

A Halloween Break! & Recipe of the week!

Is anyone else getting a bit tired of halloween already?  LOL

Well, I survived my long day of work... 13 hours with only 2 - 5 minute breaks!  I ended up eating a bunch of junk while I was working, since I couldn't get away to eat anything decent!  Then I came home, tucked my munchkins in bed, and went to bed myself.  I managed to read at least one page in my book before falling asleep mid-paragraph, lights on and all!  :)

This morning I have a card I finally finished from on the weekend.  Something was bothering me with it, and I just couldn't get it done.  Yesterday I gave in and hit the scrapbook store, changed out one of the papers, and now I'm much happier!  Here is Traveling Tilda in pinks:

Here is a close-up:

Materials used:  Traveling Tilda by Magnolia, Copic Markers, My Mind's Eye papers, Charm from Bunny Zoe's multipack, Wild Orchid Flowers, Martha Stewart punch, Basic Grey pearls, Making Memories pins, Misc. lace and ribbon from stash.

And now for my (almost weekly lol) Family Favorite Recipe of the Week!  Please remember that this is not MY recipe, just a favorite recipe from the internet from my 12 years of torturing my family with new recipes!

This week's recipe is Basil Chicken with Pasta!  Please note that in our house, we add peas to the boiling pasta water a couple of minutes before the pasta is done.  It's wonderful with the peas in it!

DT call and off to work!

Tomorrow I head off to work for the first time in a very long time... hmm, what was I thinking?  Ack!  Perhaps I should go to bed?  I'm pretty sure I'm not going to sleep either way.   I have been such a bad blogger... I've kind of been feeling like I was run over a truck... did anyone catch the license plate number??  I did manage to sit and get a bunch of images coloured.  Maybe I'll get them made into cards this week.  Too bad I can't just post the coloured images!  LOL

If you haven't been over to Paper Sundaes in the last day or so, you might have missed our DT call!  We are looking for someone who loves to colour!  Maybe someone who is trying to grow their blog, or someone who is just looking to make some new friends :)  This might be someone new, or someone who's been around for a long time!  If you're interested, pop your name up over on Paper Sundaes, or send me an email!  :)  Just don't expect a response tomorrow (today?) :p because I'll be at work for 12 hours!

This week at Paper Sundaes we are challenging you to make a card for a little one!  I never have boy birthday cards in my stash, so I decided to use this adorable Robot Boy from our sponsor, Meljen's Designs.  I tried to keep it pretty clean and simple... I know my boy sure doesn't appreciate a bunch of embellishments!

The paper is by Kaisercraft.  The circles were actually punched out of a second piece of patterned paper from the same line as the grey.

Simon Says Stamp - recipe:  3 embellishments (brads, buttons, ribbon) 2 patterned papers (grey, circles) and one image

Trick or Treat! & Recipe of the week

It's almost time for Halloween costumes... my second least thing to shop for, after kids shoes!  :)  My daughter wants me to make her costume, eek!  If I get it done, I'll have to post pictures.  I'd love to hear what you're doing for halloween!

This week, Tilda is dressed up as a pirate and ready to sail the seas... or hit the streets for candy more likely!

For this card I've used my distress inks to watercolor Pirate Tilda and the Barrel, Skull & Anchor images from the Magnolia Fairy Tale collection.  I actually cut the Barrel, Skull & Anchor image into two pieces so that I could lay the barrel on it's side.

And now onto one of my favorite topics, food!  :)

This week's family favorite 'Recipe of the Week':  Mimi's Sticky Chicken!  This roasted chicken is amazing!  Perfect to cook on a cool fall or cold winter day!

Please note that our family favorite recipes are NOT my personal recipes, just amazing recipes I've found over the last 15 years of torturing my family with internet experiments :D  To see all of our Family Favorites posted so far, click here.

Kraftin' Kimmie's First Bday celebration card

Hi everyone!  If you're having problems with your blogger dashboard, please read my post from earlier today.  It's a catch 22, if you're having the problem, then you can only see a few posts in your dashboard, so any solution posts will quickly fall off your dashboard page and you'll miss it!

My card today is for Kraftin' Kimmie's first birthday celebration!  I thought this sentiment was perfect for a card to celebrate Kraftin' Kimmie's bday!  They have a celebration challenge on their blog right now, you should check it out!

Mark's Finest Papers is also having an anniversary celebration, and their challenge right now is to use a button and bow on your card.  I decided it would be perfect to combine the two celebrations in one card!  :)

Materials used:  Chester by Kraftin' Kimmie, sentiment from the Steampunk sentiment set by  Kraftin' Kimmie

Other challenges:
Papertake Weekly's 3rd bday celebration! - I chose their one for the fellows challenge
Oh Alice - Nonsense text (on the background paper)
Card Positioning Systems - sketch
Sweet Stampin' Challenge - punch it out
Etsy Inspired -  This week's featured shop is Two Eggplants, for this piano keyboard, since he reminds me of an oldfashioned piano player, plus the black and white colour combo.

Having Trouble with your dashboard? Read this!

If you're having trouble reading the blogs you're following, in your blogger dashboard, I can give you a temporary solution.  When you want to check them, temporarily change your language (top right of your dashboard screen) to something other than english.  Scroll down to where the posts are.  They will still show up in the language they are written in!  When you're done reading, switch your language back, it's as easy as the click of a button.  Just need to know how to say English, in the language you switch to.  If you don't know any, use french, and the english option is Anglais - English.

Hope that helps someone!

If the broom fits...

My hubby cracked up at how appropriate the sentiment was on my ATC card I made today... I think I should be insulted!  :D

Today I tackled my first ATC... and I loved it!  It was so much fun!  The broom was handmade by unwinding some SU cord, and then dipping the threads into a water and glue solution to stiffen them.  I then tied them around a wheat stalk (grabbed off the side of a country road nearby!) with a bit of metal wire.  The background cardstock got a solid coating of Tim Holtz distress crackle paint.  Here it is!

That gorgeous girl is from Tiddly Inks, and her name is Betty Belfrey.  I nabbed her at last week's sale, and I'm kicking myself for not getting tons more... I only got 8!  I did trim off a bit of her dress, and the rim of her hat, just for the sake of this ATC.  If I hadn't been gluing on my handmade broom in the spot where she holds her actual broom, I definitely wouldn't have cut off the brim.  The background is a freebie from Tiddly Inks, printed on Kraft cardstock.  Betty is coloured with Copics, with some shading done with Prismacolor pencils.

Now I want to make some more!  :)

Gorgeous Gossmere

Right now at Splitcoast Stampers, they are celebrating their 300th sketch challenge.  The other day I bought a bunch of digi images from Tiddly Inks, and decided this was a great time to ink up Gossmere.

After seeing the gorgeous job that Mary Giezma did coloring her in orange here, I decided to use up some of the orange paper scraps from yesterday's card, and give it a shot!

Materials used:  Gossmere by Tiddly Inks, sentiment from Whiff of Joy. Paper by Teresa Collins, PTI card stock.  Misc- copics, chalks

Dreams of Dazzling Diamonds Dance Through My Head!

It seems like I've been using my Dazzling Diamonds quite a bit lately, and it's everywhere!  Who needs salt on their food, sparkles taste just as good, right?

Today I finished off the first of two 'orange' cards I have on the go.  Orange is not a colour I use much, but it's so perfect for this time of year.

Last month I won 2 stamps of my choice over at Pixie Cottage, and I couldn't wait to ink them up!  They are beautiful red rubber, and so nicely etched.  They stamp wonderfully!  This little fairy called to me to piece her wing so that the top one arches out of the card.

You can see the dimension better from an angle, so here's a close-up:

I used my Diamond Glaze on her rubber boots to make them nice and glossy.  The sentiment is from a set by Whiff of Joy called Magical Wishes.

Materials used:  Stamp- Pumpkin Fairy Hannah by Pixie Cottage, Sentiment from Whiff of Joy.  Papers:  Leaves DP and Brown DP by Bella Blvd, Orange DP by Teresa Collins.  Misc:  Copic Markers, Diamond Glaze, Dazzling Diamonds, leaf charm from Stamp & Create, Misc. Ribbon, Pearls by Basic Grey

Christmas card panic??

Is it time to panic yet?  Well, maybe not yet, but I think I need to get a move on, very soon!

This week at Paper Sundaes, our sponsor is Karen's Doodles!  Karen generously provided each design team member with an image of their choice to play with, and I picked this cute Emma and Snow Scene!  As soon as I had this card three quarters of the way done, my daughter announced that this has to be her Christmas card, so I guess I'm no farther ahead on my cards!  LOL

I used dazzling diamonds on the snow hills, and some white puff paint on the jacket and boot trims.  You can see them a bit better in the close-up:

Our challenge this week at Paper Sundaes is to use something from your stash.  Everything for my card except for my new image, came from supplies from years past.  The papers are by American Crafts, from last year's Merry Mint collection.  The charm was from Stamp and Create.  The sentiment is by Whiff of Joy, from their Magical Wishes sentiment collection.  I hope you will dig through your stash and find something old to play with, and join us for this week's challenge!  The gems are also from my stash, and they are by Basic Grey.
