Wishing this was me! & Recipe of the Week!

Last weekend, my friend Jenny came up for a visit and a stamping day, and brought her wonderful, amazing, gorgeous (should I go on?  lol) stamp collection with her!  She had a bunch of the new Magnolia stamps, and I got to play with them!  :)  I was so excited to see she had Traveling Tilda and the suitcase with sign stamp!  Please bear with the overload of photos!

The suitcase is from a tutorial by Suzanne J. Dean that you can download here!

Here is the back of the suitcase, which has different stickers than the front.  They were miniaturized from some vintage artwork I found online.

Last photo, I promise!  A closeup of the front of my Easel card.

Oh, I wish I was flying off somewhere!  Sweden comes to mind for some reason!  :D

If you've made it through this far, you deserve a medal!  lol

How about instead, I share with you another family favorite recipe that we've discovered online over the last decade.  This week's Recipe of the Week is Honey Baked Chicken.  Yes, there is curry in the recipe, but I promise, it tastes good!  Don't let it scare you away.  If you don't like curry, use a mild one, that's what we do!!  You can reduce the butter a bit, too.  Let me know here if you try it and like it.

Materials used:  Stamps- Magnolia, details in post.  Flowers- Wild Orchid.  Papers- MME dp and PTI kraft cs.  Tag by Miss Cutiepie.  Medium- Tim Holtz distress re-inkers.

Birthday Boy

I admit it, I have a 'thing' for girlie cards!  Whenever I need a 'boy' card, my selection is pitiful.  So I decided I need to start making some masculine cards for my stash.  I just had to use 'Blowing Candles' by Spesch.  This cutie reminds me so much of my son, that I just had to colour him up.  Is it the hoodie?  The cowlick?  I'll never tell!  ;)

You can find this cutie at Paper Jewels, and Jenny still offers free worldwide shipping on orders over $50... can't beat that!

There's still four days left to enter the friendship challenge at Paper Jewels Stamps Blog!  Maybe you'll be the lucky winner of this week's rubber prize!

Oh, before you go, you should check out Stacy's amazing Tim Holtz candy giveaway!  You can read all about it here!

Beautiful Belle

This card is for Belles 'n Whistles Clean and Simple challenge.  I spent too long Dazzling Diamonding, and just managed to get this finished in time!

I had lots of fun with this card.  I broke out my Spellbinders Impressibilities that I hadn't played with, and it went really well, I thought!  Sometimes with my Cuttlebug plates, it actually cuts the cardstock, but this one didn't, so I was happy :)  I Dazzling Diamonded the edges of the papers as well as the ric rac ribbon.  We'll be eating glitter for a week!  :D

2 cards in one day, that's a miracle the last little bit!  Hopefully I can find some more time and energy to create, it helps keep me sane!

A Wags n Whiskers Sunday!

This week at Paper Sundaes, our sponsor is Wags 'n Whiskers.  In honour of the always generous Lacey, (owner of Stamp & Create, and co-owner of Wags 'n Whiskers) who not only is a regular sponsor of Paper Sundaes but was also our very FIRST sponsor, I chose to use their Lacey fairy from their last release.

Our challenge this week at Paper Sundaes is Things with Wings.  I've combined my card today with the Wags 'n Whiskers challenge Diamonds and Pearls, from their blog.  For my diamonds I used a pair of diamond headed pins, and then added the pearls both around the scalloped Nestie die cut and in the top corner.

What a week!

I apologize for not being around this week, and not visiting!  This week took a sudden turn on Tuesday and life got a bit crazy.  I feel very lucky that all is well now, and life can return to normal!  (Until the next curveball comes, right?  lol)

I really didn't think I would get my card done this week for Paper Sundaes, and please don't ask what time it is right now... trust me, you don't want to know!

Our challenge this week at Paper Sundaes is to use fall or halloween colours, and we have the always generous Simon Says Stamp sponsoring us again this week!  Here's my card:

I used this beautiful Mo Manning stamp by Stampavie, called End of Summer!  I used some gorgeous new papers by Imaginisce called Apple Cider, and some flowers from my stash.  My image is colored with Copics.

The layout is from the current sketch challenge at Bunny Zoe's Crafts.

About a week ago, I started a new tradition here on Running This way and That... to share a favorite on-line recipe with you!  If you would like to reciprocate, leave your favorite recipe in my comments, or post it on your blog and let me know here, and I will be sure to visit!!

This week's favorite family recipe is 2 for the price of 1!  :D

Chicken Enchiladas!!  We use a customized (not by me!) recipe from All Recipes HERE except I omit the salsa and peppers due to personal taste.  The whole family loves them, it's a miracle!

Mexican Rice!!  We like to serve it with something on the side, and this dish is perfect!  Again, I omit the peppers due to low spice tolerance :D

Please let me know if you try it!  If there's no interest, I'll stop posting the recipes :)

This week at Paper Sundaes, our sponsor is Belles 'n Whistles stamps!  They have the cutest stamps, designed by Elisabeth Bell.  For my card today, I used Sunshine & Apples.  I thought that it had a wonderful fall feel.

Oh that Tilda, she has a secret!

Good morning, and happy Sunday!

Of course, since it is Sunday, that means a new challenge over at Paper Sundaes!  Our challenge this week is near and dear to my heart:  Mixed Mediums!  If you take a peak back through my blog, you will notice that almost all of my coloring is mixed medium...  I am constantly using chalks with my copics, or copics with my watercolors!

I've been looking for an excuse to cut into my new My Mind's Eye papers I picked up last week, and this seemed like the perfect occasion :)

For this card I used Secretive Tilda.  She must be sneaking up on someone with some birthday flowers!

For my mixed mediums, I used Copics (her overalls, flowers, skin and grass) Prismacolor pencils (her shirt, hair, plus extra shading on her pants using Espresso brown) and chalks (her blush, around her in pink and some shading in the grass).

I hope you will join us for our Mixed Medium challenge at Paper Sundaes!  Just remember, if you are using Copics as one of your mediums, use them FIRST!  (so you don't destroy your nibs!!)

I am entering this into the following challenges
Sketch Saturday:  Sketch
Stamp and Create Challenge:  Flowers
7 Kids Challenge:  1 Sparkly (paper), 2 patterned papers, 3 flowers
Bunny Zoe's Challenge:  Vintage
Just Magnolia:  Anything Goes
Cupcake Crafts:  Let's Get Digital (sentiment)

Thanks for stopping by!  Check yesterday's post for this week's favorite family recipe!

A card and a new tradition!

Oh I've been a bad blogger!  But my house looks a bit cleaner!  LOL

A couple of days ago, I placed an order at Paper Jewels with Jenny's Buy Two Get One Free sale that's on right now, and look what arrived the very next day!  24 hours from when I placed the order, amazing!!  Here's some of it!

Now the tough part... which one to ink up first!!

With my new CC designs on the way, I thought I should ink up one of my last order that I haven't used yet.  OF course, I didn't realize then, that my order would arrive before I could get this one posted!  I decided to get out the cute Swiss Pixies Birgitta by CC Designs.  Like always, I managed to hit a lot of challenges with this one, they are all listed below!  :)

The paper is some old Crate Paper from my stash.  Birgitta is colored with Copics, and the shading on the Gina K matting is done with chalk.  The wings were done with Stickles.

Now for the new:

I am hoping to start my own weekly tradition here on my blog!  I don't know about you, but I love to torture my family with new recipes as often as possible!  Each week I am going to try and post a link to my favorite online recipe.  I haven't decided if it will be Friday or Saturday, but I am going to start it today!  Feel free to post yours!  If you post it on your blog, let me know and I will make sure to drop by!

My recipe this week is for my family's favorite salmon dish:  Cedar Planked Salmon.  We get the planks in 6 packs from Costco for $10 CAD.  Be sure to soak the planks :)  If you try it, let me know what you think!
