Sugar Bowl Challenge 25

I can't believe tomorrow is New Year's Eve already... almost time for the kids to head back to school!  Their vacation seemed to fly by this year.  It's a mixed blessing having them home, isn't it?!  It's great being able to do stuff we don't normally have time for, but when they get bored, watch out!  lol

Today I have a card using Lillian's fantastic sketch challenge over at the Sugar Bowl.  I used a super cute Sugar Nellie Gorjuss girls stamp called Bear Hug.  Lately I am loving Crate Paper DP's, and I thought they were a great match to this image.  The Please Include option this week is to use your favorite colour, and I just love this shade of blue!

Here is my card:

I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve!  Stay safe!

Merry Christmas and Gingerbread houses

I just wanted to wish a very merry Christmas to everyone, and to those who don't celebrate Christmas, a happy holidays!  Whether you are a follower or just dropped in for a quick visit, I appreciate you stopping in!

It's been too busy to get any cards made the last 2 days, but I did get a gingerbread house made with my kids!  Thank goodness for kits with the gingerbread pre-made, what a blessing!  Here are some 'after' photos.  All the sides are different, since the kids couldn't agree on the style house they wanted :)

The most important thing is that we all had fun!  :D

See you all after Christmas!

hugs,
Christine

CAS baby card

For me, I consider this a clean and simple card :D  Only one patterned paper?  Shocking!

In my opinion, this card looks better in real life!  It didn't seem to photograph well, maybe because one of my 2 bulbs for my photograph lights is burnt out.

Birthday Surprise

5 days until Christmas, how did that happen?  The last of my cards went into the mail today, I guess they will most likely be late!  I saved the closest ones for last, so I'll cross my fingers that they arrive in time.  I have had a bad mail week, I accidently sent an Express package to myself!  LOL...  So Friday I got to head back to the post office to resend it, and of course the post offices are all crazy busy!  Ah well, hopefully I won't have to be back in one again any time soon!  Have you all gotten your cards mailed?  Or do you procrastinate like me?

Today I have a card for the current sketch challenge at Motivet.

The alternating stripes on the box and lid are done in Stickles.  The lace I picked up at a local bridal fabric store.

Magnolia winter kit

I received my Magnolia Winter & Christmas kit today, but as I was cutting it, I noticed that there was a big difference in the rubber thickness from one end of the other.  Here's a picture:

(Those aren't my fingers!  lol)

That can't be normal to have one side really thin, can it?  Did anyone else's come like this?

Merry and Bright!

I just love this digital snowman stamp!  It was a freebie during the summer.  I had forgotten where I'd snagged it from and had hunted high and low to try to figure out where I'd gotten it from.  Earlier tonight I noticed (while getting ready to post this card!), that someone else had used the exact same image, and for the same sketch!  Isn't that ironic?  I posted on her blog, asking who it was by, and she was kind enough to pop by my blog right away and let me know.  So I wanted to give a big thank you to Iwona for making the effort to help me out!  You should check out her card with the same image, it is so cute!!

So here is my card:

I used the current sketch challenge at Card Positioning Systems.  The snowman was a digital freebie from Dustin Pike, I think he is so adorable!  Papers are My Mind's Eye, PTI and Bazzill.

I am entering this card into the CPS challenge as well as the following:

Comment verification is now off

I just wanted to mention that I turned off my comment verification a few days ago, after a general card blog movement to save us all time, which is so precious at this time of year.  I haven't had a single 'spam' message since then, either!  So if you haven't yet, maybe you might want to consider removing your comment verification for a few days, and see how it goes!  You can always delete specific comments if you needed to.  Simon Says Challenge made an appeal, you can read about it here.

Wonderful Winter!

It doesn't look like I'll get a card done today, but I just had to share this with you!

EDMONTON — It was colder in Edmonton Sunday than anywhere else in North America.

Environment Canada recorded a bone-chilling -46.1 C — or -58.4 with wind chill — at the Edmonton International Airport at 5 a.m., said Environment Canada meteorologist Pierre Lessard.

The temperature shattered the northern Alberta city’s previous Dec. 13 cold record of -36.1 C, which was set last year.
You can read the full story here, and laugh at us!

card positioning systems

Wow, another Saturday is over, Christmas is getting so close!  We tried to start our Christmas shopping today, but the mall was so so busy!  We did get a few things.  I think we are going to keep it small this year.  Honestly, I just feel like we don't need more 'stuff' just for the sake of having a full Christmas tree. If anything, we need less stuff!  Less clutter, less noise, less debt :)  Anyone feeling the same way?

Today's card is for the current challenge at Card Positioning Systems.

It is actually a gift card holder.  Here is the inside:

Motivet challenge week 50

Today I did something I never, ever do... I used the same image on back to back posts!    As soon as I saw Motivet's current challenge though, I knew exactly what image and paper I wanted to use, and unfortunately, it's the one I used last!  Oh well, life will go on, right?

So today's card uses Motivet's Children Riding Kick-sled, and also their snowflake accessory stamp.  The snowflake was stamped with PTI's ocean breeze ink and embossed with Ranger embossing powder.  The lace is from a local bridal store.  The paper is Bo Bunny.  The layout is from Friday Sketchers.

Sugar Bowl challenge 24

I wasn't sure I would get this card done in time, but here it is with hours to spare :)

Over at the Sugar Bowl, there is a sketch challenge with the twist to use something zig zag.  I decided to take a break from Christmas cards (since working on them only reminds me how far behind I am this year! LOL) and made a 'Spring'-ish card.

Bake sale project

Tonight I have a treat box that I made for my son's bake sale.  Since I made a bunch of them, and time was very limited, I kept it really, really simple!  If I had more time, I know exactly what I would have done, but unfortunately at this time of year, sometimes you just have to make concessions :( and this week, that concession is craft time and perfectionism.

For this project I used the template and tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers.

I also took baked goods, but I thought this would be a good option for those families with allergy issues.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Just Us Girls- Template challenge

Motivet challenge #2

Tonight I have a card based on the current sketch challenge over at Motivet Stamps.  I love their stamps, they are just so cute!  Here is my card:

I'm really happy with this card, it has a ton of texture and dimension.  Unfortunately, the glitter does not show up in these photos.  If you click on them, you can see them larger, and then some of the glitter is visible.  The package bows, candle holders, star, and the ribbons in her hair are all covered in stickles.  The ribbon is SU and the 2 types of lace are from a recent craft fair, I'm not sure what brand.  The lace inside the frame is the baseboard :D  The frame is raised with foam.  You can see some of the dimension in this close-up:

I just love this big sis telling her little brother not to peek!!

Motivet's first challenge!

This week, Motivet has their first challenge on their blog.  This gave me an excuse to break out one of my new stamps and make another Christmas card.

I used some fantastic papers by Webster's Pages, I love their paper!!  I hated to cut into it, but went to the store and bought replacement sheets already!  Ha ha!  All of the papers are distressed with Holtz distress inks on the edges.

You can't really see the sentiment on the metal embellishment in this photo, so I took a close-up.  The metal tag is attached with embroidery thread.

The metal sentiment is from my stash from 3 years ago, I've been hoarding a full set of them and finally broke them open for this project!

A card for Jaimie

I made this card for Jaimie, you can read all about it here.  And here is a link to the special blog they set up for it, Spread the Love for Jaimie.

What a worthwhile cause!  I can't imagine what she is going through right now.  I hope that the cards will bring a bit of joy to her at such a horrible time.

For this card I used the color combo challenge at The Play Date Cafe.

The sketch is from the current challenge over at Everybody Art Challenge.

The stamp is from Whipper Snapper.  Papers are PTI.  I used Koh-i-Noor and Prismacolors with OMS for the coloring.

Thanks for visiting!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 23

Two cards in one day!  (well, technically, the earlier one was made last night!)

Over at the Sugar Bowl right now there is a new sketch challenge that just started today.  This is the card I made, using their sketch.

I used the super cute Miss Claus stamp by Sugar Nellie, available at Funky Kits.  The papers are by We R Memory Keepers.  To color the image, I used a combination of Prismacolors and Koh-i-noor pencils with OMS.  The sentiment stamp is from Imaginisce.

Hope everyone has a great night!!

Christine

Surprise!

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone is having a good day!

Today I used another of my new Motivet stamps, Doraline - Surprise!

I followed the current sketch challenge from The Diedrich Dare, though I did accidently omit the ribbon across the middle...  Apparently I shouldn't assemble my card at 1 in the morning!  LOL

Over at Quixotic Paperie, the current challenge is to make a birthday card.  Doraline- Surprise is perfect for that!  She is also great for the Cute & Fuzzy challenge at the Stamp Something challenge blog.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Leave me a comment, I love to hear from my visitors!  And don't forget to enter my blog candy!

*hugs*

Anything but a card? LOL

Don't forget to enter my blog candy here

Today instead of a card, I made a pumpkin :D

A Tilda Pumpkin!  Here is my Sitting Witch Tilda:

Unfortunately, time was very tight, so I only had about half an hour.  If I'd had more time, I could have done a better job.  The broom definitely needed more time (so I could have carved in the straw details).

And a close-up:

Let me know if you think she looks like Tilda or not!

I am entering this into the new 'halloween project' challenge over at Caardvarks :)

I hope everyone is having a fun halloween!!

Blog Candy!

Blog Candy is now closed.  Draw will be later today!

I have been having a bit of good luck lately, so I want to share the wealth.  I am still gathering stuff for my blog candy but I am going to open it up right now to any visitors to my site.

What will my candy include?

A variety of 50 stamped images done on 1/4's, in Momento, on Lynx Opaque white cs
some ribbon, flowers, papers and pearls.

If you would like to enter my blog candy you must:

1.  Sign up as a visible follower!
2.  Please post my blog candy on your blog, either in a post or in your sidebar.
3.  Leave a comment on this post.
4.  For every 10 new followers, I will add more candy, too!

It would help if I include a closing date, wouldn't it?
I will have the draw on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Here is a photo!  Please note that this is only part of the images! (An assortment of Elzybells, Motivet, High Hopes, Whipper Snapper, Stamping Bella etc!)

I have edited this post to extend it from Wednesday Nov. 18 to Saturday, Nov. 21.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Mojo Monday week 110

Read about my blog candy here:  Christine's Blog Candy

Good morning everyone!  The snow is falling outside right now, and it feels like it's time to turn on the Christmas music!

Today I followed the current sketch over at Mojo Monday, and now have another Christmas card for my stash!  If only my Christmas shopping was going as fast... or at all...

Here is my card:

I used some more My Mind's Eye paper for this, and a cute Elzybells stamp from their Cold Nose, Warm Hearts stamp set.  The cardstock is PTI.  The trim on the hat, coat, post, and snow are all done in flocking, hard to see, sorry!

This card also qualifies for the current challenge over at Crazy For Challenges, to use at least 3 geometric shapes.  In this case, I have the square card, circle image and rectangle paper strips.

Over at Winter Wonderland, the current challenge is to make any Christmas card.  I have so many Christmas stamps, I would have no excuse not to participate in this challenge!

I hope you all have a great day!  Let me know what you think, and come back to visit again tomorrow!

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all having a great day!

Today I have a card for the current CPS sketch challenge.  I really wanted to keep this card clean and simple, so I resisted all temptation to dress it up :)

I used some new ribbon that I found yesterday, at our local scrapbook store.  The image is by StampingBella.

Materials:
Stamps- Flowahbella by StampingBella, sentiment by Elzybells
Paper- My Mind's Eye

Beware!

Over at the Diedrich Dare, there is a challenge right now to make a pirate card.  I was sadly lacking in pirate stamps, but luckily my friend Shana came to play yesterday and brought me a pirate image!  Thanks, Shana!  The skull paper is actually halloween paper but seemed perfect for this!  The map was printed from clipart.

Motivet win!

Wow!  Wow, wow, wow!

I won a draw over at Motivet's blog, for my choice of 5 images!  I can't believe it, I love their stamps sooo much!  Check out their stamps in their shop here.

I would post an image of one of the stamps I chose so you could see just how adorable they are, but they might not like me posting their image, so if you want, you can go see it here

Thank you, Motivet!  You made my day!

Birthday Wishes

Today I decided to tackle a couple Magnolia challenges.  Over at Just Magnolia, there is a sketch challenge which I followed for my card.

At the Stamp Shoppe there is a 'pink' challenge this month, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  What a great cause!  And this card definitely has pink :)

Over at Magnolia Down Under, there is a challenge to use distressing.  I distressed all the edges of my layers, and the flowers are all torn.

Stamp:  Magnolia- Tilda With Flower Jeans
Paper: My Mind's Eye- Penny Lane
Misc.:  Buttons- American Crafts
Medium: Prismacolors, OMS

I won at Kimmie's!

I won the last challenge over at Kraftin' Kimmie's blog, can you believe it?!  Thank goodness for random draws, right?!  LOL

When my son saw the prize, which is Posy, he came up with an interesting idea for a good card to make with her, so once I get her, I will give it a try and see if I can do justice to his idea.  I'll post it here when it's done :)

Thanks Kimmie for the fun challenge... can't wait to tackle this week's!

Meet Me Under The Mistletoe!

Read about my blog candy here:  Christine's Blog Candy

Hi everyone!  Today I used the current sketch challenge over at the Sugar Bowl and made my husband's Christmas card! I'm definitely ahead of the game this year... usually I do everyone else's first, and then run out of time and he doesn't get one!  LOL...  To top it all off, I made him do the photography and editing for me... I told him not to look while he did it ;)

I am in love with this Mistletoe image by Sugar Nellie!  The sentiment is my own, done on the computer, I thought was perfect for my dear hubby!

Witch Way to the Candy?

I made this card using the current sketch challenge over at the Diedrich Dare.  All of these sketch challenges are helping me take care of a bunch of cards I needed to make!  I also followed the 'witch' cupcake inspiration challenge over at Hope Stamps Eternal.

Over at Cupcake Craft Challenges, the current challenge is 'Things that go bump in the night', which includes witches in their list :)

Over at Copic Creations blog, the current challenge is 'Black'.  With this card I experimented with using both Copic greys and Prismacolor greys together.  I still need to work on my copic blending!!

This also fits the halloween based challenges at Cute Card Thursday, Everybody Art Challenge and Corrosive Challenge blog.
