Just For You

As soon as I saw this week's MFT sketch, I knew I had to play along; it is just my style!  Lots of layers, straight panels (unlike my crooked sewing lol...).  I hadn't used this 'Because You're Special' MFT Pure Innocence in forever, and she was bringing me happy thoughts of spring, so I just had to ink her up!

I've mixed and matched a bit, using the sentiment from MFT's 'Fresh From the Oven', and a rolled rose from their mid sized rolled rose Die-namics, finished off with a brad in the middle.  The papers are My Mind's Eye 'Miss Caroline'.

Copic Colours:
Skin - E000, 00, 21, 11, BV000
Hair - E30, 31, 34, 35
Dress, shoes - BG53, 45, 49
Jacket - BG45, 07, B34 over top for toner
Grass - YG91, 93
misc. - E81, YG95, R32, YG2, YG23, BG000, 0000

I've used my colourless blender to add a bit of texture to the grassy ground.  I thought it turned out okay in the end.  I'm just glad that the food poisoning seems to be just about over, so that I felt good enough to play today!

Challenges:
Die-ing for a Challenge - Anything Goes (C3)
Totally Papercrafts - favorite things (Pure Innocence stamps, die cuts, layers)

Thanks so much for stopping by, your visits and comments are truly appreciated!

Whee!

Sorry for the quiet blog!  We just got back the night before last from a 4 day trip to Calgary for my daughter's provincials!  It went really well, with 3 new A times, and several more personal bests.  Unfortunately I must have caught a touch of food poisoning on the trip home, so it hasn't been a fun 24 hours!

My card today is for the current MFT sketch challenge.  Luckily I coloured the panels on Wednesday before we left town, because otherwise I think it wouldn't have gotten finished!  As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use this MFT 'Start the Day With Whee' stamp.  I ended up having to cut the panels a bit tighter than I'd like just so I could keep this card at a reasonable size though... as it is, it's 7.25 x 5, not exactly small!  :)

Challenges:
Stamp and Create - Paper Piecing

Now I am off to get this scheduled and then get to bed... after no sleep last night, it's going to be hard to get up in the morning, and the kids tend not to like it when mom forgets to pick them up from morning practice :p

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Christmas in the Air

This week at Paper Sundaes, our challenge is your choice of either the colour green, or the theme of Good Luck.  I don't often make Good Luck cards, so I decided to go with just the green, and get back on track with my resolution.

Well, I definitely haven't been keeping up with my pledge to get ahead on my Christmas cards this year... I believe this is only number three so far.  It's hard to get in the mood for Christmas in March!  I absolutely love this MFT Pure Innocence Christmas Caroler though, and decided to cross one more card off my list :) See Santa, I really am good, once in a while :)

The layout is from this week's MFT sketch, I have managed to play along with every sketch so far this year!  Yay, me :)

Challenges:
Dies To Die For - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes

Now I am off to take some advil, since I seem to be developing another migraine and can hardly see the monitor to type this, no joke.  Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you can come join us at Paper Sundaes this week!

Hugs,

Happy Leap Day!

If everything goes as scheduled, this will post while I am off for the day with my Auntie!  Hopefully rush hour traffic will be kind :)

I was running a bit late for this week's MFT sketch challenge and had to sneak it in on the last day.  This sweet stamp is 'Being Cute Is What I Do' by MFT stamps.  This paper is from a My Mid's Eye paper pad called 'A Happy Heart', that I snagged on sale at a local store last week.  I love the rich tones!

I've used two MFT die-namics as well, their Wonky Scallop, and Ticket Tab.  The sentiment is from a different MFT stamp set, their Lily of The Valley Pure Innocence.  I always seem to be switching them up.

Challenges:
2 Sisters Challenge - Anything Goes
Party Time Tuesdays - Anything Goes
Paper and Such - Paper Piecing
Craft Your Passion - Paper Piecing
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
The Perfect Sentiment - die cut + sentiment
Whimsy Inspirations - Paper Piecing

Thanks so much for stopping by!

You're So Sweet

Wow, how did it become Thursday already?  My hubby is off work this week and we have been busy running around.  Yesterday we were back to the doctor.  My kids are getting a bit of a tour of the medical field; maybe one of these will be something they pick to do someday!  This time it was the pulmonologist again.  My daughter thinks this would be interesting, but I'm not sure she's suited for medical school, with all the needles and blood :p

For my card today, I've inked up one of the beautiful Belles 'n Whistles stamps that I won from Elisabeth Bell just before Christmas.  All of her stamps are just so gorgeous!  This sweet girl is called Pretty in Patches.

It's not very often I use my BV's, but it was a nice change from all of the red I've been using lately. I just love this 'Spring Border' Memory Box die, expect to see a lot of it.  I definitely need to get more of these!  The flowers are an MFT Die-namics called Flower Trio.

Bring on spring, I'm ready for warm weather, green grass and flowers!

Challenges:
Sweet Stampin' - Lace, Brads, Flowers
Cutie Pie - Flower Power
Papertake Weekly - Get Krafty
Corrosive Challenge - Another Dimension (popped out top layer of flowers)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Playing along with CPS's 5th Anniversary

Happy 5th Anniversary, CPS!

I just had to play along with CPS's 5th Anniversary sketch challenge, and of course, I had to choose one of the MFT weeks!

This cute MFT Pure Innocence 'Popping By' had been sitting neglected and impatiently waiting her turn, so I just couldn't resist her any longer :)  I've paired her up with some new 'Miss Caroline papers from My Mind's Eye.

Now I am off to play some more with Shana, who is over for a card date :)  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Color Outside The Lines

Thank you to everyone that emailed me to check in on me!  Luckily my fever broke Monday night and now it's just a matter of kicking this nasty cold.  Even our dog is now sick.  I've discovered though that she will drink water if I put a bit of low sodium chicken broth in it... the downside is that she likes it a *little* bit too much!  :)

I haven't managed to find the energy to colour this week, but luckily I had coloured this adorable MFT Pure Innocence, You Color My World a few weeks back and she had been sitting with her co-ordinating patterned paper just waiting for the perfect MFT sketch!  When I saw this week's sketch, I thought it would work perfectly for her!

The papers are from my favorite 6x6 paper pack, My Mind's Eye 'Lime Twist' - Go Fly A Kite.  The buttons were cut with my MFT Button Quartet Die-namics.

Copic colours:
Skin - E000, 00, 21, 11
Hair - E31, 34, 37
shirt - YR04, 07, 18
apron - E41, 42, 43
pants - 71, 74, 77
misc - YG13, YR27, Y15, BG23, V15, N0, R24, 29

Inky Impressions - Punches or Dies
Do You Stack Up - Layers
Stamps R Us - Anything Goes
Crafter's Companion - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Where's Christine, and google friends update too

Sorry for not being around much the last few weeks.  Late last week, my week long migraine morphed into a nasty cold, and a lovely fever to go with it.  Not much is being accomplished here right now!

I did drug myself up with cold meds and snuck off for a few hours to watch my kids race today, and it's a good thing I did!  My son got his first 'national' time, although since he 'ages up' in a month, it doesn't count for much beyond the satisfaction of achieving it :)

Also, I've seen a lot of chatter on blogs in the last week about Google closing it's Google Friends Connect. As long as you use blogger as your platform, no need to panic!  Here is a quote from the Official Google Blog:

Google Friend Connect—Friend Connect allows webmasters to add social features to their sites by embedding a few snippets of code. We're retiring the service for all non-Blogger sites on March 1, 2012. We encourage affected sites to create a Google+ page and place a Google+ badge on their site so they can bring their community of followers to Google+ and use new features like Circles and Hangouts to keep in touch.
(red text courtesy of me :)

Now I am off to bed to hack, cough and generally probably not get much rest :p

Hope you're all having a better week than me!

Hugs,
     Christine

You're How Old?

I'm on a roll, this is number 6 of the 6 MFT sketches this year!  I just love this sketch, it came together so easily.  This cutie is an A La Modes called 'Birthday Girl' by MFT.

I've paired her up with a sentiment from MFT's More Essential Sentiments, and a felt flower cut with an MFT die-namic, Prima Donna Petals.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye 'Hip Hooray'.

challenges:
Papertake Weekly - Anything goes

Almost the weekend, woohoo!  I wish we had this weekend off, but both of our kids are competing.  At least this one is a short meet!  I hope you're having a great week!

Hugs,
     Christine

The battle goes on...

With my migraine, that is!  It certainly isn't helping me get any crafting done, or housework.  Like I need another excuse not to do housework!

I am still trying to play along with the weekly MFT sketches, this is number 5 of 5 so far this year, all on time, too!  I bet that won't last the whole year lol...

This week's sketch threw me off kilter a bit, with those angle cut pieces!  I just couldn't find paper that seemed to work with it.  Finally I cut into my precious, untouched stash of October Afternoon's 'Ducks in a Row' paper that I have squirrelled away for the miraculous day that I get around to scrapping the rest of my kids baby photos :)  Oh it was hard to cut it, but it was only one sheet, after all :)

The aqua blue tones just seemed perfect for this 'Make A Splash' Pure Innocence from MFT.  It was my first chance to play with her!  I did the sand and sky with my airbrush.  I simply cut a scrap of paper in a bit of a curve for the edge of the sand, and kept both halves of the scrap.  The first I used to get a cleanish edge on the sand, and then the other (negative half), I used to mask the finished sand.

Challenges:
Inky Impressions - use pearls or bling
Crafting For All Seasons - Blue & White
Do You Stack Up? - Anything Goes

Now I am off to take some more Advil and get to bed!  I am hoping to get around to everyone's blogs tomorrow!  Thanks so much for stopping in for a visit!

Hugs,
     Christine
